The rumours were true that more applications would be submitted to convert offices on the Newton Estate into residential units after RPS Energy at 309 Reading Road (on the corner of the Newton Estate) was given the go ahead to convert into 23 flats at the end of last year.
The owner of the offices in Anderson House, currently occupied by Onelan, a digital signage company, have applied to South Oxfordshire District Council for a Permitted Development Order (PDO) to convert the offices to 11 flats.
The PDO legislation does not require the developer to provide affordable housing contributions and SODC doesn’t have to take this into account when assessing the proposal.
The application was included on the Henley Town Council Planning agenda as a ‘Note’ which means it is not open for discussion or recommendations by the committee.
We have asked Onelan for a statement about their plans but to date we have not received a reply.
