Sandie Russell from Henley and her daughter-in-law, Lise Harrow have opened their new shop, Stocks on Bell Street on Friday.
The shop offers a wide range of items including clothes (cashmere sweaters, Rosemund lacy tops from Denmark, basic white shirts with a fun detail and lingerie), gifts and greeting cards, jewellery by Caroline Svedom with Swarovski crystals (which many of the celebrities wear after it was worn by the Princess of Sweden) bags and stationery.
Sandie’s background is interior design and she’s had 30 years experience of running six shops in Cambridge and market towns around, selling upmarket gifts and ladies designer knits. Lise has recently returned to England after living in Hong Kong for 16 years and is joining Sandie on her first retail experience. The second Stocks shop will be opening in Stockbridge in September.
Sandie said, “I feel passionately about independent shops in the town centres. They are the life blood of a town and critical to its success and future. We will strive hard to help in any way we can for the betterment and success of Henley as the beautiful Georgian town that it is. We really want to get involved in the community. Unlike national chains, we can choose individual pieces to sell and can react to trends.
The Mayor, Councillor Julian Brookes, officially opened the shop and said, “It’s great to have another independent shop in the town. I wish Sandie and Lise every success in their new venture together.”
