Didcot Town Reserves 4, Henley Town 0
Henley Town’s dismal season continues without a win as they lost 4-0 to Didcot Town Reserves at the Loop Stadium last night.
The table tells the story behind their journey with 73 goals against and only 9 for after fourteen games.
It would be too easy to blame a weak defence for all Henley’s woes but with no established striker, pressure on the opposition’s defence is sadly lacking.
With the visitors having only one shot on target in the first half last night, Didcot raced to a 3-0 lead by half time with two goals from experienced striker Tom Gooding.
A change to the back four after the interval with Craig Sinclair moving to right back, tightened up Henley’s defence and restricted the home team to just one goal. It also helped that Henley moved the ball forward with a better tempo to their game resulting in eight or nine shots – some on target – although coming, as they did, from long range, very few troubled Didcot’s ‘keeper.
