Strike a Chord
The music of Chopin, Liszt and Schumann will resound on Friday 10th May at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church, Henley, when local musicians ‘Strike a Chord for The Chiltern Centre’.
Anita D’Attellis is a fine concert pianist who recently moved to Henley, and she will perform a programme of piano favourites in the first half of the concert, including Chopin’s ‘Heroic’ A flat Polonaise and Liszt’s stunning Hungarian Rhapsody No 2. She will be joined in the second half by string players Ron Colyer, Susan Greenwood, Christopher Walker and Paul Cox to play Schumann’s ever-popular Piano Quintet.
Both Ron and Susan are highly experienced professional violinists, both of whom led the Henley Symphony Orchestra in its early days. Viola player Chris Walker was Director of Music for many years at The Henley College, whilst Paul Cox, has had success nationally as a cellist and teacher. All the musicians have donated their fees to support the charity, which provides respite care for disabled children and their parents.
Anita D’Attellis said ‘when I moved into Henley, I heard about the work of the Centre and its constant battle to raise funds. I am so pleased to be able to perform with some of Henley’s best local musicians to help celebrate the Centre’s tenth anniversary’.
