Local Music Enthusiasts to Organise Jazz & Blues Week
The first Henley Jazz and Blues week is to be held from Friday 8th to Sunday 17 November, an exciting new venture which has been planned by local music enthusiasts. They came up with the idea to ‘lift the winter onslaught blues.’
The ten-day long event will be held in and sponsored by Brakspear venues around Henley, and organisers hope that the festival will become a permanent fixture in the Henley events calender.
Local music agency Eight Ray Music will be providing the acts throughout the week, with Papa George and Mick Moody (ex Whitesnake) performing a JJ Cale tribute set, who died recently, on the launch night. Potential patrons include Paul Jones (ex Manfred Mann) and Digby Fairweather (great jazz trumpeter, worked with George Melley, now with Paul in their own band), both big names in the jazz and blues world.
Other sponsors and supporters are Incubator Ventures, the Henley Partnership, Henley Town Council and MultiMedia Plus.
With such great musicians and a passionate band of organisers behind it, the week is sure not to hit a bum note!
