Henley Spirit of Christmas Event to Raise Money for Muscular Dystrophy

Henley spirit of christmasThe Christ Church Centre in Henley will host The Campaign’s Spirit of Christmas concert on 11 December at 7.30pm. The festive celebration will include musical performances, readings, poetry and carols and one of the choirs is a ‘rock choir’! The concert will be followed by a reception where guests can enjoy wine and freshly cooked seasonal fayre and a raffle. This is a Christmas event not to be missed and is being organised by the charity’s Thames Valley Branch, which is chaired by Peter O’Sullivan.

Peter’s son, Matthew, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is a rare and life-limiting muscle-wasting condition. Around a 100 boys are born in the UK each year with the condition. Proceeds from the evening will go towards helping those individuals and their families affected by muscular dystrophy.

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is the leading UK charity supporting ground breaking research into over 60 muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions and supporting the 70,000 families affected by them.

Peter O’Sullivan says:

“I am delighted to be organising this event for the 6th year in order to raise awareness and much needed finances for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. We need to make sure funding is available so that effective treatments are available for all the different muscular dystrophy conditions. My intention is that the evening is a quality and enjoyable experience for everybody who attends and also that the charity benefits too’’.

Paul Tomlinson, Volunteers and Fundraising Manager for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, said:

“Peter and our Thames Valley branch have done a wonderful job of pulling this spectacular event together and I am sure it will be a success on the night in terms of it being both fun and inspiring as well as helping to raise vital funds and awareness’’.
