Grandparents Get Spoilt by an Afternoon of Tea and Entertainment
Grandparents of children at Valley Road School got spoilt last week when they were invited to afternoon tea, scones and entertainment by all the children.
This was the fifth year of this popular event and over 50 grandparents attended, travelling from as far as Yorkshire and Poland. Year 6 children helped serve the tea and scones to all the guests.
Christine and Bill from Watlington whose grandson Rupert is in Year 1 said, “We were really surprised at the professionalism of all the staff and how well the children responded so well to the great stimulus that the teachers had provided. We are were also impressed with Tim, the headteacher and how brilliant he was with all the children. It was a 5* performance.”
Rupert joined his classmates and children from Year 2 to perform a Space Dance, Wind Up Toys and riddles.
Mrs Riches, the Reception teacher whose class performed Dr Knickbocker No 9 which was a great lively song with rhythm and actions and taught the children to count backwards said, “The performance went extremely well and I was very proud of them all.”
