Nordic Walk Raises Over £1500 for Thames Valley Air Ambulance
A group of 24 Nordic Walkers took part in a charity walk organised by Anthea Osborn-Jones on Saturday in the sunshine in aid of Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA).
The walkers could choose either a 5 mile or 10 mile walk starting from Upper Thames Rowing Club. The 5 mile route went along the towpath to Hambleden lock and back over the top from Aston and the 10 mile route was via Culham Court, Hambleden, Dairy Lane and the river.
Anthea who runs A Foot in the Chilterns said, “Thank you to everyone who came on the sponsored walk and to the brilliant volunteer marshalls on the route. It was fantastic to have such lovely weather. The walkers were welcomed back by Ruth Dunkin from the TVAA and cakes made by Caroline Bleackley and the walking team. Everyone made it back safely.”
Bridget Smith who was leading the 10 mile walk said, “I learnt to Nordic with Anthea last year and have been walking ever since. I am really pleased to be supporting the walk today as the Thames Valley Air Ambulance is a very worthwhile cause and essential service that relies completely on voluntary donations.”
Ruth Dunkin, Head of Community & Events, said, “Congratulations to all the walkers from A Foot in the Chilterns for completing their challenging distances and raising over £1,500 for Thames Valley Air Ambulance. It is always fantastic to see people taking part in events to support their local Air Ambulance which receives no government funding, we are reliant on those such as Anthea and her friends in the community to help keep us flying 365-days a year and saving lives.”
