Aston Productions Making New Short Film Written by Sophie Dix

Henley based​ company, Aston Productions ​are in pre-production for their next short film​ “ Entrance No  Exit.” ​written by local actress/writer, Sophie Dix.

Sophie is an English actress, best known for her role as Captain Sadie Williams in Soldier Soldier. She has also  had roles in The Buccaneers with Mira Sorvino, Heat of the Sun with Trevor Eve, Hour of the Pig with Colin Firth,  Second Best with William and John Hurt, Macawbre, Thieftakers, Between the Lines, and Not Going Out.   Early writing commissions focussed on comedy and included: BOGMAN – a collection of monologues written and  performed by female comedians (BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, 2002); and sit-com CALIFORNIA SANDS (Carlton  TV, unproduced due to the political situation in Zimbabwe, where the heroes were from).

Current feature film projects in development include: THE OYSTERCATCHER set in rural coastal Wales with Ipso Facto Films for director Simon Aboud (2016); LOVE HOOLIGAN with Ragged Crow, in both full length theatrical and short film versions, the latter currently in competition; PERFECT a psychological thriller (short); and LOUIS  with Cloud Media Entertainment.

Director, Jo Southwell said. “I am delighted to be directing a comedy! Although the story will  require a very special actress – still to be cast – to really deliver the subtle dramatic emotion as well as the physical comedy.” ​ The Short film “ENTRANCE NO EXIT” will shoot over 2 days – 10th and 11th April in White Waltham Airfield. “I am really excited to be shooting in the aeroplane seen in The  Night Manager; EE advert and Mission Impossible.”

Under Aston Productions, there are opportunities for local film enthusiasts to get involved. Jo is managing a crowdfunding campaign and product placement opportunities for the film    This short film will be screened at The Cannes Film Festival and then the international film festival circuit.     Following this short, Jo will be directing a feature length film in Henley on Thames – so now is a great time to get  on board!
