A party of around 30 U13 footballers, coaches and parents are arriving this Thursday evening from our twin town of Leichlingen in Germany as part of the annual twinning exchange between SC Leichlingen and AFC Henley, a relationship that has lasted 40 years.
The annual crunch match for the Duke’s Shield takes place on Friday evening at 7.30pm at Henley Town FC’s Mill Lane pitch, followed by a reception and presentation to the winning team by Henley’s Mayor, Glen Lambert. AFC Henley Chairman, Trevor Howell, said, “There will also be a small football tournament at Jubilee Park on Saturday afternoon, involving mixed Anglo-German teams followed by a barbecue at for our visitors and host families at Shiplake Memorial Hall. Spectators are welcome to come to the match on Friday and to join us all for drinks in clubhouse afterwards.”
