Regatta for Disabled (R4D) is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary tomorrow (Saturday) at Phyllis Court Club starting at 10am.
R4D is unique, and is a day out held specifically for children and adults with varying levels of disabilities and gives them the opportunity to experience land based and river based activities not normally available to them. It is a great day out for carers, friends and families too.
The specially adapted ‘Rivertime’ cruiser provides free river trips throughout the day, with many other boats offering free trips for all to enjoy. Highlight of the day is the Bell Boat racing with teams of abled and disabled people competing for their coveted medals.
There are lots of exciting and interactive events taking place in the Paddock – refreshments, bar, music, Punch and Judy, Interactive Zoo, trade stands, face painting, inflatables and much more. There is even a climbing wall accessible to those with a disability.
Expert supervision throughout the day, and facilities such as the Mobiloo which allows the provision of private disabled changing is a great addition at this event.
Relax as you cruise along the River Thames or simply sit by the river and enjoy the great atmosphere of the days exciting and interactive events.
