Bell Bookshop Welcomes Richard Osman for Book Signing of New Novel
Pointless TV Presenter, Richard Osman came to The Bell Bookshop today to sign copies of his first novel, The Thursday Murder Club.
The book tells the story of a peaceful retirement village where four unlikely friends meet up once a week to investigate unsolved murders. But when a brutal killing takes place on their very doorstep, the Thursday Murder Club find themselves in the middle of their first live case.
The book has sold 45,000 copies in 3 days, making it the best selling crime debut since records began.
Richard was doing a whistle-stop tour of independent book shops for signing today. Emma from The Bell Book Shop said, “We were very excited to have Richard. He’s renowned for being a genuinely nice guy and he was… it’s extremely gratifying that authors such as Richard appreciate independent booksellers. Its very important to keep the bookshop on the radar, especially during this pandemic and show that we can do things that internet traders just can’t do.”
Richard thanked The Bell Bookshop for supporting him and said that customers should support independent bookshops saying “use it or lose it”. Although he was delayed by the traffic today, he told Emma he loves Henley as a town and he’s visited many times before. He signed 60 copies of the book in record time and some copies are still available to purchase.
