The Henley Bulletin – History, Natural History, Book Excerpts, Old Photographs

A new free monthly printed illustrated leaflet about Henley’s history, natural history and local curiosities of all kinds has been started by resident Darius Halpern.

Printed on a letter press at Darius’ home, The Henley Bulletin delves into both past and present.  It is delivered to subscribers homes in Henley or can be mailed further afield by arrangement.  Darius, a retired BBC employee who has lived in Henley all his life said, “I love to write and and I have a love of illustrations, so there were lots of creative reasons to start this.

In the March edition, Darius discovers the delight of Normanstead Lane, looks back at the heavy snowfalls of 1908 and 2009 and highlights a book Henley Royal Regatta 1981 by Christopher Dodd which gives an excellent insider’s view of our town’s world class event.  The book is available to read in the Local studies section in Henley Library.
