Youth Festival is Coming to Town at the Christmas Festival
Henley Youth Festival’s pop-up stall will be in Market Place tomorrow (Friday) at the Christmas Festival.
Become an HYF Friend or discover how to get involved with the events happening this March. There’s even a Name the Bear competition for the younger people or those just young at heart!
#HYF 2022 is happening from the 5-13 March. Gig Night, the HYF RUN, performance events and competitions for art, writing, film and photography are planned, but only a small selection of art and drama workshops will run.
The youth festival has reduced its school workshop provision as parents remain nervous and schools restrict access for external visitors. The festival also needs new volunteers to co-ordinate its art and educational workshop programme, which benefits pupils from Reception to Year 6 in all 16 primary schools in the Henley area.
Laura Matthews, HYF Chair, encourages interested parents, teachers or those with educational experience who would be ideal for the role to introduce themselves at the HYF Christmas Pop-up stall on Friday (tomorrow). Stage Managers and Event Co-ordinators are also needed for the 2022 FRIENDSHIP-themed festival.
Laura who joined the festival in May, hopes to restore the workshop programme to pre-COVID levels for 2023 – in recent years HYF has delivered around 3,000 workshop places during the festival. In 2020 this comprised 70 hours of educational art and 100 hours of science, music, dance, drama and sporting activities which often offer a new experience to pupils.
Those interested in getting involved in the 2022 festival or with a passion to drive the HYF Workshop Programme in 2023 should email hyfinfo@gmail.com for a call back with Laura.
Full details of all the events running in the 2022 Henley Youth Festival will be available at the festival’s launch event in January.
