Communing With the Campbells – Happy New Year from Costa Rica
New Year Henley Herald from Anthony Campbell on Vimeo.
It’s been a pretty rough start to 2022 for many around the world and it’s been no different for us here in La Ecovilla Costa Rica. Both Katie and I had to fight off a strep throat infection which really set us back. That said we’re now back to full fitness and throwing ourselves back into community life here at La Ecovilla. Interviews and research have continued and it was great to get the perspective from one of the younger members of the community 14year old Mila. We also managed to visit a nearby animal Sanctuary which was a real highlight. The Sloth is the national animal of Costa Rica and really typifies the ‘Pura Vida’ lifestyle. It was amazing to get so close to these beautiful gentle creatures. Something we’ll never forget.
The longer we continue on this journey. The more people we talk to. The more footage we gather. The more insights we discover. The more worthwhile we believe our mission is. That’s not to say there aren’t intense worries associated with the decisions we’ve made. The challenge and the question is the same as when we first started this adventure. Is the ‘mission’ worth spending our life savings on. Will the investment pay dividend further down the line? Is the investment in the ‘experience’ as a family reward enough?
The one thing I know to be true is that nothing worthwhile in life ever comes easy. Unless you are pushing boundaries. Unless you’re operating outside of your comfort zone, you can’t hope to achieve anything of great merit. This adventure is about helping to answer some of the biggest questions about the way we live life. The question is so big and broad that sometimes if feels too much. However we are making progress, as we continue in perpetual motion to help answer the question ‘is there a better way’?
