Town Centre Planning Applications Get Mixed Reaction From Town Council Committee

The Town Council’s Planning Committee this week reviewed a number of planning applications for the town centre.

Anne Haimes Interiors applied to install 6 fabric removable awnings on to their office windows above Busby & Fox in Bell Street.  The Planning Committee recommended refusal on the grounds that the awnings would be out of keeping with the historic building and street scene and not comply with the South Oxfordshire Design Guide.  Consultation ends 18 February.

The owners of the Barclays Bank building which is due to close in March, have applied to remove an existing night safe and the external ATM which will be infilled with stonework and timber to match the existing.  The Committee recommended approval of this.  The building has a change of use application approved by SODC in March 2017 to a A3 restaurant. Consultation ends 18 February.

Facy have applied to convert their offices above their store in Market Place to 4 x one bedroom apartments after only one of the offices has been let for the last few years and the others have remained empty since 2017.  The Planning committee recommend approval subject to an area for waste being provided outside at the back of the building. Consultation ends today (4 February)
