World Book Day Appeal Beats Last Year’s Total

Over 500 books were donated by Henley residents for the Children’s World Book Day appeal at Henley Town Hall.

Frances Oldershaw who organised the appeal said, “A huge thank you to all the Henley Residents who have been amazing in their kindness in donating books to the children of Henley.

“Even though we couldn’t thank you personally when you dropped the books off – please know that we are truly grateful for every book that was donated.    I’m passionate that children should read and these books are so important for them.”

“This is the second year running and I am so touched that people supported this event again and beat the last year’s book number of 300.  We will definitely continue doing this event each year as it is such a wonderful event for the community to be involved with.   My thanks to Ken Arlett for organising it and the Town Hall staff for all their help.”

The books will now be distributed to local schools for their libraries.
