Membership Club at The Relais Hosts First Breakfast Meeting
The Salon Membership Club hosted its first breakfast meeting last Wednesday with Simon Jones from Chime Communications speaking about How to Rebuild Trust in a World that Lies.
The event was an intimate affair with breakfast served round a large table for 15.
Simon specialises in strategic communications and reputation management for governments and businesses. Simon spoke about the importance of trust and telling the truth especially in business. Telling stories and managing those stories are key to building reputations. Telling compelling authentic stories can influence others and behaviours also build trust. Great leaders need to inspire followers and trust is need to look after people. He said, “It should never be about the numbers.” Adding “Reputation takes a lifetime to build and a moment to lose.” Can lies be overcome? Simon said, “It’s never too late to admit mistakes. Truth is everything. There’s no beauty without truth and truth without beauty. Integrity and authenticity are your heroes.”
Questions and discussions took place afterwards, questioning Was Will Smith wrong? What did people think of the P&O CEO and how it would affect P&O cruises who are not part of the same business. What would Simon have said to Gerard Ratner who told the truth in 1992 about a pair of Ratner earrings saying “they are totally crap.”
Alistair Washbourn was one of the attendees. He said, “With so much disinformation presented in the world today, I felt the topic Building Trust in World that Lies, particularly poignant.” Simon took us through some really interesting areas around reputation and current affairs leading to some great discussion. The Salon at The Relais Henley hosted the event perfectly.”
The Salon Membership Club at The Relais Henley offers a programme of breakfast meetings and social evening soirees along with use of a co-working space in The Palm Court at the hotel on Hart Street.
The next breakfast meeting will be on Wednesday 27 April at 8.30 with speaker Simon Foy QPM, Former Head of Homicide and Serious Crime Command, Metropolitan Police doing a talk “Trigger Point – Contemporary Challenges in Policing.”
The next evening event is on Wednesday 20 April for An Evening with Mosimann’s. Consultant Chef, Ray Neve, will be demonstrating one of Mosimann’s signature dishes from 6.45pm.
