Aliquando Concert to Celebrate Jubilee and Raise Money for Zimbabwe Charity
The Aliquando Chamber Choir concert on the 14 May at the Christ Church Centre in Henley is in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Anne Evans, Musical Director says, “We wanted to pick works we love from the vast treasure trove of our nations music and incorporate too some from other countries that make up the Commonwealth.” It will be no surprise that Africa will be well represented as the Charity for this concert is the Jacaranda Trust, who support Zimbabwean Charities working with and for the extreme poor and underprivileged – they are also pleased to have Zimbabwean singer/songwriter Tsungai Tsikirai as their guest artist who will apply authenticity to the African element of the programme. Crosfields Junior School Choir will also be adding their voices to the concert, they recently performed with great success at Woodley Festival of Music & Arts.
In 2014 Aliquando’s concert for Jacaranda Trust raised the funds to set up the Jaipur Limb project and it is very heartening to see this amazing project changing people’s lives in Zimbabwe. Aliquando are back again this year to support the RESCU/Jaipur Limb project in giving replacement prosthetic limbs to two young girls in Harare. It is a continuing commitment as they will need replacement limbs as they grow.
