Brownies Join Together with Greener Henley to Plant Trees for Queen’s Jubilee

1^st Henley Brownies have joined together with Greener Henley to help them plant and look after trees as part of The Queen’s Jubilee Green Canopy tree planting initiative last week when they met amongst the beautiful trees in Harpsden woods.

Patrick Fleming from Greener Henley spoke to the Brownies about the importance of trees not only to help climate change but the importance of them for the wildlife.  He brought along two types of trees; Silver Birch and Crab Apple for the Brownies to take home to either plant in their gardens or look after over the summer and to bring them back in the Autumn term when the Brownies will help plant them.  Patrick said, “ Harpsden Woods was a perfect location, we were able to identify mature silver birch in the trees around the glade where we met. It was really nice to speak to such an attentive and knowledgeable group.”

Leader of 1^st Henley Brownies, Michaela Clarke said, “It was lovely to have Patrick join us in the wonderful surroundings where he pointed out different trees and explained why they are so important.  It’s a great way to mark and celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.  Afterwards the Brownies enjoyed building zip-wires for their teddies to speed down and toasting marshmallows on small fire.”
