Remembering D-Day Anniversary
Today is the 78th anniversary of the World War II D-Day and veterans and other visitors have gathered in Normandy today (Monday) to pay tribute to the nearly 160,000 troops from Britain, the US, Canada and elsewhere who landed there. Several thousand people are expected Monday at a ceremony at the American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach in the French town of Colleville-sur-Mer.
Mike and Lesley Willoughby who founded the Henley Lest We Forget project and published a book in November 2020 Bringing Them Home Too on the men of Henley and local villages who sadly died during and as a direct result of WW2. Mike said today, “We are still researching and remembering.”
