On Wednesday 13 July, Henley entertained members of High Wycombe Bowling Club in a five triples mixed friendly match. This was the first meeting of the two clubs in a new fixture and both enjoyed a competitive game with Henley losing on three rinks with an overall score of 75-82. Peter Borsberry with Peter Watkins and Brian Duddy had a very successful game being 10 shots ahead after ten ends and running out clear winners at 24-8. Steve Sullivan with Amanda Smithdale and Nigel Bridges were ahead until the twelfth end when they lost 5 shots on the next end but recovered well to win by 1 shot at 17-16. Kevin Browne with Ramsay Adams and David Palmer were level after six ends but then had a very difficult game and were outplayed, going down 6-25. Colin Ward with John Wilkinson and Richard Kingston were level at the fifteenth end and just lost by two shots 13-15. Barrie Davies with Martin Taylor and Joan Edwards played a steady game and were well ahead until the last end when they dropped 6 shots and went down 15-18.
On Saturday 16 July, Henley entertained Watlington in a five mixed triples Plomer Cup match with Henley winning on all five rinks with an overall score 124-63. As a result, Henley took all 12 points. Norman Daniells with Steve Sullivan and Joan Edwards were in control from the start, were 18 up after ten ends and ran out winners 41-5. Barrie Davies with Sally Daniells and Martin Taylor were 7-7 after nine ends, 4 up after fourteen ends, dropped 9 over the next three ends to be 5 down with one end to play, but managed to score 7 to win by 22-20. Peter Borsberry with Kevin Currill and Richard Kingston were 3 up after nine ends, picked up a 7 on the next end and won 22-12. Colin Ward with Simon Hatcher and Jeanie Davies were 9 up after nine ends, dropped a 4 on the next end, then ran on to win 20-10. Andy Scott with Peter Watkins and Amanda Smithdale were 6 down after three ends, 2 up after six ends, and level at 16 all after fifteen ends,. They then managed to win with a score of 19-16.
