Opera Prelude Announce Autumn Programme

Opera Prelude, a charity who seeks to empower young artists to fulfil their outstanding potential has announced his Autumn concert programme hosted at the Christ Church Centre on Reading Road.

The first concert is on Friday 30 September between 11.00-1.00pm and is a lecture recital with mezzo soprano Joanna Harries entitled From Bookshelf to Opera Stage. Joanna says, “As a self-confessed bookworm, I have been reading well past my bedtime since I first discovered my local library. And I’m not the only one to have been inspired by novels – opera composers have been turning to their bookshelves for the past two centuries as well. Some of my favourite childhood reads have made it onto the stage – stories such as Little Women, Mansfield Park, Great Expectations, Alice in Wonderland, and Robinson Crusoe. Join me, mezzo-soprano Joanna Harries, as I delve behind the dust jackets of the literary classics that have inspired operas!”

The programme to the end of the year includes lecture recital with Claire Ward, Soprano on 21 October Lost in Translation, Ben Night, Baritone lecture recital on 18 November Handel: Giving London Something to Sing About and on 9 December a Festive Concert featuring Opera Prelude young artists.
