Orwells Serves Up at Shiplake Tennis Club Gala Dinner

Shiplake Tennis Club teamed up with Orwells Restaurant to celebrate the Club’s achievements at a gala dinner.   This truly local collaboration combined an exceptional three course fine dining experience with the recognition of players’ individual and team effort throughout the year.  Trophies were presented to finalists of the annual Championship event in a number of Junior and Senior sections, with Caroline Edwards (pictured above) achieving a record breaking three titles in the Ladies’ Doubles, Vets’ Mixed Doubles and the Mixed Doubles’ Plate.

The event was held in the Shiplake Memorial Hall, with all aspects of the set up and service being expertly managed by the team from Orwells, headed by Ryan and Liam Simpson-Trotman.  Chairman Marcus Binning said “The partnership with local restaurateurs Liam and Ryan worked brilliantly and we hope to collaborate with Orwells on future events.  We have been overwhelmed by their generosity and community-oriented approach, and are so lucky to have them as the Club’s neighbours.  A selection of wines was provided by Peter Osborne Fine Wines of Watlington.”

A new range of tennis clothing, branded with the Club logo and available to all players, was modelled in a light hearted fashion show at the end of the evening by Georgie O’Brien, Sharon Hearn and Mike Lynskey.
