    Talk by Eva-Maria Hammer, Johnson Matthey Battery Development (formerly University of Bonn) giving an overview on the challenges faced by transitioning the energy supply from a traditional fossil fuel driven economy to renewable energies. It will focus on the role of energy storage and in particular of batteries.  Different battery technologies will be introduced but focusing on recent developments in the Lithium ion battery technology.
