AFC Henley Hurricanes (U10) Emphatic Win Away

Windsor Swallows 1 AFC Henley Hurricanes 4

AFC Henley Hurricanes produced one of their performances of the season with an emphatic win away to Windsor Swallows in their first game of the New Year. Windsor started strongly and were difficult to contain on a tricky pitch. Henley immediately showed their mettle and responded by putting in a battling performance in the first quarter.
Will Davie impressed on his debut at the back, never giving an inch to his opponents. Jamie Hudson also started strongly in defence using his speed to cover the Windsor attack and as ever, Will Saunders gave a masterclass in defending, never putting a foot wrong. Behind them Luke Taylor was imperious in goal, once again demonstrating superb handling and distribution.
In the second quarter the introduction of Ben Hudson proved to be a catalyst for Henley. Man of the Match Hudson added some real energy to the Henley front line and started to put Windsor on the back foot. The pressure told and soon Henley were ahead. Hudson slipping the ball through to Jem McAllister who finished with style. McAllister then returned the compliment flicking the ball on to Hudson for a powerful finish.
Henley were clearly in the ascendency now with Justus Larter and Zodey Sabijan playing with silk and steel in the middle, fighting to win the ball back against much larger opposite numbers, and then distributing with flair and purpose.
In the second half Windsor came back at Henley strongly and were rewarded for their efforts with a fine goal. But Henley showed their character, instantly responding with another goal to preserve their two goal advantage. Ben Hudson again breaking free and delivering a superb cut back which Jamie Hudson smashed home.
Henley finished the game as strongly as they started. Archie Barker, excellent on the right, hit the post after an explosive break. Barker then turned provider, sending McAlister through with a pinpoint pass. McAllister wrapped the game up in style, nonchantly flicking the ball into the air and powering a perfect volley into the net.
