Henley Hotspurs ran out 10-2 winners against Sandhurst Town Rovers

Unfortunately Sandhurst could only field 8 players on Saturday due to illness and half term, but showed resilience and determination against a Henley side that apart from 1 loss this year has been playing excellent football.

Max Gaskin playing at left mid opened the scoring with a fine strike after a great through ball from Jake Blackwell in the 10th minute, Sandhurst could not get out of their half and within 2 minutes Christian Oswald had headed a goal from a corner after some intense pressure from Hotspurs midfield to make it 2-0 to the home side.

Jerome Rocks followed up with a finely struck volley from 15 metres to make it 3-0, shortly after Max Gaskin made it 4 again after fine build up play. Two more goals in the first half from Jerome Rocks and Jake Blackwell made it 6-0 at the break.

The second half saw a more spirited response from Sandhurst and they were getting back into with two goals in quick succession. However Sam Butler who had come out of goal in the second half to be replaced by James Swinburn struck a short range shot to make it 7-2 , followed up by a two goals from Jake Blackwell to record his first hat-trick of this year, making 9-2 with 5 minutes to go. Gabe Langford then produced a great goal from a run from the left culminating in a shot that beat the keeper in the Sandhurst goal.

The game finished 10-2 and leaves Henley in 3rd place in division 3. Next game away to AFC Henley Hurricanes.
