Henley College student Harry McCartney has received a call up for the England U18 rugby squad.

A delighted Harry, who moved to Henley 2 years ago from Tring RFC to further his rugby dream, commented: ‘I have enjoyed my time at College and it has allowed me to play against the best in the country. I always felt confident that I would make the selection and simply put my head down and worked. The training programme and fitness we do at College through AASE has equipped me to compete at the highest level of schoolboy rugby.’

The College’s Martin Unsworth described Harry as a ‘dogged and determined player’ and added: ‘We are delighted by Harry’s progress and this this call-up is thoroughly well deserved.’

Harry joins a growing number of the College’s students who have received recognition for their rugby talents. In recent years students have also gone on to play for England A, the England 7s and Wales 7s and teams such as London Wasps, Saracens, Sale and Harlequins.
