Henley Lions Present Donation to Camp Mohawk

At the Henley Lions monthly meeting on Monday last, we were privileged to be presented with a cheque in the sum of £2015 by Martyn Sheldrake for the proceeds of the Toad Hall Garden Centre Christmas Santa event. The cheque was accepted by the event organiser, Lion John Moore and by Lion President David Skinner. Our special thanks were passed on to all the staff at Toad Hall, and particularly Lynn who, almost single handedly built the fantastic Santa Grotto once again. We were fortunate to have increased the number of visitors to Father Christmas again this year by about 200 children, many recognised from previous years, and to have received such wonderful and appreciative comments regarding both the venue and the amount of time that each child was able to spend with Santa. We take great pride and pleasure in being able to share the joy of this event. Many of the children were also excited to have seen Santa traveling in the Rolls Royce donated by Hoffmans of Henley, and, of course, the young competition winner who was able to ride with him in this exotic earthly transport.

Henley Lions handed over our cheque donation to Camp Mohawk on Friday last. In the photo above, from the left are: Lion President David Skinner, Lion Robin Swift. We were shown around the camp by Luke and Keith Douglas, both of Camp Mohawk and were particularly impressed by the work undertaken and the facilities already available, especially the sensory area for the more challenged children. The cheque was in the sum of £2000 to be used for enhancing the enjoyment and education of the children using the facilities. Funds were the proceeds of Santa’s Grotto at Toad Hall Garden Centre in the lead up to Christmas 2012.
