Egg-cellent Cause for Easter Egg Raffle
The Chocolate Theatre Cafe in Henley ran another raffle this year for a giant Easter Egg. It was made of dark chocolate, weighed 8kg and stood 2 feet tall. Roy Hastings, master chocolatier and co-owner of the Chocolate Theatre Café told us that it took him five hours to make.
Roy has been a chocolatier for 35 years and his speciality is cooked sugar work which has won him gold awards. When asked what has been his most unusual creation he said, “A cake made in the shape of globe which rotated.” Roy co-owns the Chocolate Theatre Cafe with Vivienne Connery. He opened his original cafe in Windsor 13 years ago and has run an Easter Egg raffle there every year.
On Saturday, Silvio and his family, the holder of the winning ticket 785 came to collect the egg from the Cafe on Thameside which was presented by the Mayor, Liz Hodgkin. Just over £300 was made from the £1 tickets and this money will be going to the very worthwhile Camp Mohawk charity in Wargrave; a multi-functional day centre for special needs children, set in 5 acres of beautiful countryside.
