First ‘In the Groove’ Music Quiz

itg3Andy Tucker who recently opened ‘In the Groove’ the record shop on Reading Road ran the first music quiz under the new shop’s name at the Bird in the Hand pub on Greys Road on Thursday  night.

Andy has been running the quizzes at the Bird in the Hand under his old shop name Henley Records for a number of years.  The quiz offers a mixture of questions and music clips over 15 rounds from all musical eras ranging from Jazz to Punk, Ska to Funk.  Last night two of the rounds were about ‘groovy’ records to celebrate the opening of the new shop and one was about songs with coffee in the title to highlight that the new shop has a coffee bar.

On Thursday there were 12 teams which completely filled the lovely local pub run by Graham and Celia Steward. Andy ran the regular charity raffle in aid of Oxfam and the prizes were a large choice of CDs from his shop.  The regular team ‘Famous Five’ won the quiz with the B52s picking up the wooden spoon.  Graham and Celia are perfect hosts and their chips and sandwiches went down really well with everyone at the end of the quiz.

The next Music Quiz will be on Thursday 6 June at 8.30pm at the Bird in the Hand.
