New SODC Community Investment Grants

Organisations in South Oxfordshire have the chance to apply for up to £15,000 to fund community projects like improvements to buildings or new equipment, through the district council’s Community Investment Fund scheme.

The council offers the grants to community based organisations over two rounds, with the first opening on 22 April.

Projects the council has helped to fund through the scheme in the last year include refurbishing the tennis courts at Edmonds Park in Didcot, a ventilation system at Wallingford Methodist Church, training equipment for St. John’s Ambulance and much more.

The funding is available for capital projects such as building work, repairs, new facilities or equipment and cannot be used for running costs.

The council is encouraging anyone with a project in mind to attend a pre-application workshop which offers advice to those applying to the scheme. The workshop will be held on 5 June.

Ann Ducker, leader of South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “This scheme has helped numerous projects already to bring about improvements in the community or provide much needed equipment and I’d encourage more organisations to apply for a share of this money. We recognise how important these projects are for building community spirit and improving the quality of life for residents and have increased our budget when other external funding streams are diminishing.”

The scheme closes on 28 June, for more information and details of how to apply, visit www.southoxon.gov.uk/cif.
