Bohun Gallery Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Bohun is delighted to announce a season of shows to celebrate 40 Years of Fine Art at their Henley on Thames gallery.

The exhibition will focus on celebrating the artists who have joined the Founder Patricia Jordan Evans over the years and will mark each year of the gallery’s history with work contributed by the artists and their estates. The exhibition will be divided in to two parts and the first will open to the public on 11 June until 17 August. It will be a blockbuster show with work by some of the most important names in 20th Century British art including John Piper, Mary Fedden, Elisabeth Frink, Ivon Hitchens, Julian Trevelyan, Peter Blake, Elizabeth Blackadder and Henry Moore.

All of these artists, plus many others who are celebrated in the show, have contributed to building the national reputation enjoyed by the gallery. The success of the business lies with Pat Jordan Evans, or ‘Mrs Bohun’ as Maggi Hambling fondly calls her. In 1993, Mary Fedden wrote of her relationship with the gallery and that of her husband, artist Julian Trevelyan “We both loved the gallery, and we quickly realised how professional and discerning Pat was, and what high standards she set. She has never changed in this uncompromising approach”.

Details of 40 Years of Fine Art Part II will follow in the Autumn.
