Music Rocks the Meadows

Over 2000 people turned out to enjoy the music and the sunshine on Saturday for Music on the Meadows.

As the Art Jam Mural said “Here Comes the Sun” a very fitting tribute to George Harrison and perhaps a sign to say that the summer weather has finally arrived!  Local artist Robert Brain and graffiti artist Lawrence Rose helped both the young and old to create this fantastic piece of artwork which will be displayed at the Henley Youth Centre.

Local bands and artists played a mix of their own songs, Beatles songs as well as other favourite popular tunes.  The audience really got into the spirit by dancing, singing and clapping along to the music. In between the sets local DJ Stepper (Ross Duncan) provided the music.

There were also performances by Acorn Music Theatre Group, Sam Brown and her Ukulele Band and the Flash Mob.

The final of the Battle of the Bands took place in the evening which was won by 2D Glasses.  Jamie Bruce from the Voice was one of the judges on the panel.  2D Glasses won £500 prize money donated by Magoos and have been signed by up to Eight Ray Music, a music agency based in Henley that provides acts for events.

The evening end with a Grand Finale with all performers singing Hey Jude.

Local girl Joelle Poulos really captured the atmosphere of this fantastic event on film.  To watch it click here.
