Inspiring Fundraising Talk for Fourbirdsaboating Project
Fourbirdsaboating Presents Lloyd Figgins “Ocean Rower and Adventurer” on Monday 22 July 2013
from 8pm at Urban Fitness in Greys Road Car Park
Tickets are £10+booking fee
In February 2012, Lloyd Figgins and his rowing partner became the first pair ever to row the Atlantic Ocean nonstop via the notorious Morocco to Caribbean route. During his 60 days at sea, Lloyd had to overcome extreme adversity, including pirates, near collisions with ships, sharks and 50-foot waves. He also conducted scientific research about the marine species he encountered over his 3,200-mile journey. This included recording sightings of turtles, dolphins, jellyfish and sharks. His data has since been distributed to relevant marine organisations and mapped, providing a unique insight into the movement and behaviours of the species he encountered.
Join Fourbirdsaboating for this fascinating presentation for a cosy evening, surrounded by like minded athletes and armchair adventurers of all ages and levels. Tea and coffee will be on sale, and there will be a raffle to raise funds for the Fourbirdsaboating’s 2014 Pacific Ocean row which aims to bring the oceans alive through an online classroom for young people worldwide.
