Get Fit with Local Nordic Walking Group
If you are looking to try out something new, get fitter and enjoy the better weather, then try out Nordic Walking!
Nordic Walking is one of the fastest growing activities in the world and offers a unique way to keep fit and enjoy the outdoors. Anyone can learn to Nordic Walk, no matter what age or level of fitness.
Nordic Walking was invented by cross country skiers for their summer training and has many benefits for people who already love walking:
- it improves your upper body muscle strength
- reduces the pressure on knees and joints
- can improve your posture
- burns 46% more calories than normal walking
Nordic Walking technique MUST be learnt correctly if the participant is to get the most out of the activity. To find out more about “Learn to Nordic Walk” courses in South Oxfordshire please contact 01491 823175. Courses cost £30 and usually include the use of the instructor’s poles.
Everyone who has attended a “Learn to Nordic Walk” course can then attend free volunteer lead walks across the district. These walks are friendly, social and free!
Local volunteer Nordic Walk Leader Liz says, “ Nordic walking has helped me improve my fitness and make new friends. Our NW group explores a different route in the Henley area each week and we welcome all new Nordic walkers to join us. We are a social, friendly group and we enjoy refreshments after our walks.”
We have a different starting point every week and lift share where possible.
There is a walk every Monday afternoon (unless it’s really wet) – Starting at 1.30 pm
