Gold Medallist’s Story Inspires Invesco Perpetual Staff
Olympic gold medallist Katherine Grainger inspired staff at Invesco Perpetual in Henley with the story of her incredible road to success.
The event, organised by the charity Sue Ryder, gave staff the chance to meet Katherine, who won gold in the Women’s Double Skulls at last summer’s games.
Katherine had previously won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in 2000, 2004 and 2008.
Katherine became involved with Sue Ryder after winning “Sports Woman of the Year” at the 2012 Women of Achievement Awards, which is organised by the charity. In 2013 Katherine became an Ambassador for the awards which celebrate women from Berks, Bucks or Oxon who have done something to inspire.
Invesco Perpetual have been the headline sponsor of the Women of Achievement Awards since 2007.
Emma Harpaul, Regional Fundraiser for Sue Ryder, said: “We’re really excited about hosting this event at Invesco Perpetual. After the long and continued support that Invesco have given to the Awards and Sue Ryder, it is great to be able to give something back to their employees. Without our sponsors, it would not be possible to hold such a fantastic event and celebrate so many incredible local women”
Mark Armour, CEO of Invesco Perpetual commented “ Invesco Perpetual is proud to continue its support for Sue Ryder. As a large local employer, we believe it is important for us to do what we can to help support events such as the Women of Achievement Awards. The Nettlebed Hospice offers crucial care and assistance to individuals and their families during the most difficult times and initiatives such as this help ensure that this vital support continues to be available within our community.”
