Four Birds a Boating Looking for Two New Crew

fourbirdsaboating-ogoIn June 2014, team Fourbirdsaboating will set off from Monterey Bay, California on an 8 month row across the Pacific Ocean, calling at Honolulu. Hawaii, before continuing the journey to Cairns, Australia. The aim of the row is to provide free online education, ‘live from the boat’ to young people worldwide, whilst raising funds for future ocean rowers to continue the environmental and STEM education work. The team are likely to set several world records in the process, and will be participating in the world first ‘Great Pacific Ocean rowing race’.

 

The team are hosting a selection day at the prestigious Leander Rowing Club in Henley-On-Thames on Saturday 28th September 2013 from 10am to 8pm. The fee of £200 covers cost of the day, plus insurance, and the two selected ladies will receive fully funded RYA training and the costs of the 8 month expedition (subject to corporate sponsorship).

 

The day will be a fun, relaxed, and informal opportunity to find out more about the Pacific Ocean row, to meet the team, support crew, and sponsors, and will provide you with the chance to row and mingle with some of Britain’s finest GB Olympic rowers, coaches, and sports psychologists.

 

The criteria for selection: female, easy to get on with, able to adapt to a changing environment, fun to be around, fully committed to team mates and journey, interest in education and science research. No rowing experience necessary.
