Christmas Countdown Begins at Shiplake College

christmasfayre2013_03The countdown to Christmas has begun at Shiplake College after our annual Christmas Fayre last weekend. True to form, the Fayre proved a popular event with parents, pupils, staff and members of the local community, as over 300 guests braved the inclement weather conditions to attend.

This year saw an increase in the number of stalls to 40, compared with 32 in previous years. As well as the return of numerous old favourites, there were many new stalls at this year’s event, with the introduction of a second hand uniform shop proving particularly popular with parents. An impressive range of gift ideas including jewellery, clothes and flavoured vodkas were also well received.

The new additions helped to create a terrific atmosphere in the hall, with numerous stallholders and visitors commenting on the great ‘buzz’ at the event. Festive turkey and cranberry rolls were a huge hit with guests taking a break from browsing and shopping.

Parents’ Association treasurer Katie Sloman was delighted with the success of this year’s Fayre: ‘Given the weather conditions and numerous sports fixture cancellations, I was very pleased with the turnout. The hall looked fantastic, and I would like to thank all the organisers and stallholders for their efforts on the day.’
