This morning Mayor, Stefan Gawrysiak officially opened Henley’s Santa’s Post Box for the children of Henley to post their letters to Santa in and gave out the first of the Henley Advent Treasure Hunt maps.
Children from Years 1 and 2 at Valley Road School and Reception children from Badgemore School were all very excited about posting their letters to Santa. Tilly, aged 4 from Badgemore wanted Santa to bring her a flying bicycle and Dulcie, aged 6 from Valley Road had asked for a Rapunzel dress and tiara in her letter. The post box will be on the Town Hall steps from now and until 24 December.
You can pick up an Advent Treasure Hunt map from the Tourist Information Centre in the Town Hall or any of the 24 participants and then simply collect a sticker from each of them and stick them on the map. Once you have collected all 24 stickers, post your map in the Christmas post box which will be located on the Town Hall steps for the chance to win prizes. This morning representatives from some of the participants joined together to launch the treasure hunt; Alex Richardson from the Henley Pet Shop, Vanessa Lakatos from Deep Clothing, Laurence from Laurence Menswear, Lorraine Hillier from Hot Gossip, Melissa from the Regal Cinema and Fiona Pyle from Hotel du Vin.
Peter McConnell, Henley Town Centre Manager said, “The Henley Advent Treasure Hunt is a new event organised by the team at the Town Hall who put together all of Henley’s Christmas celebrations. Lots of our retailers and other businesses have been entranced by the idea and have offered some wonderful prizes ranging from family cinema tickets, chocolates, flowers and Sunday lunch to tea with the Mayor and all kinds of other vouchers. It’s a lovely new event for the town that will be great fun for adults and children and goes to show again what a fantastic town we are lucky enough to live and work in.”
