In the February half-term, forty year 11 students travelled to the mountain village of Champoluc in the Italian Alps, where we skied for an enjoyable week.
After a 25 hour coach journey, we arrived at our hotel, ready to ski the next day. We had a great time skiing with our friends and teachers; over the week we all improved immensely, gaining confidence and learning new skills. In the evenings, we did a variety of activities, despite being exhausted from a fun day skiing. Some highlights were the karaoke night and the cross-country skiing, which was a very entertaining night as we bonded over our lack of ability.
For the cross-country, we were all split into groups, which were organised by ability. Some of the more advanced groups were pushing themselves further by trying jumps and going off piste. The weather was a combination of good and bad, we had some fantastic days of great visibility and snow, however some days we encountered thick fog which the majority of us found challenging to ski in. Overall we all really enjoyed our time on the ski trip, it was particularly special as the whole group was year 11 which was nice as we will all be taking separate paths at the end of the year.
