World Book Night – Ocean Project’s Sarah to Share Roald Dahl Stories Via Skype

worldbooknightTo celebrate World Book Night next Wednesday (23 April), Oceans Project’s Founding Director Sarah Weldon from Henley will share her favourite short stories from children’s author Roald Dahl. She will do this via a free Skype in the Classroom session for schools worldwide, and 19 of the UK based schools will receive a free copy of Roald Dahl’s Short Stories. To register click here

This session will involve stories read aloud by Sarah, and stories read aloud by your students. What are their favourite stories and why? Do they have a favourite Roald Dahl story perhaps? What was the first book they read that got them interested in reading?sarah-weldon

The first 17 UK and Ireland based schools to take part will receive a copy of Roald Dahl’s Short Stories, donated by World Book Night (UK and Ireland).

World Book Night is an annual celebration of reading and books which takes place on 23 April. It sees passionate volunteers give hundreds of thousands of books away in their communities to share their love of reading with people who, for whatever reason, don’t read for pleasure or own books.

It is run by The Reading Agency – the charity with a mission to give everyone an equal chance to become a reader. Because everything changes when we read.

Last year, Sarah distributed free copies of local author Ian Fleming’s book ‘Casino Royale’ to locations around Henley (including Henley Library, Spirited Wines, River and Rowing Museum, Hobbs of Henley, Boatique, Dashwood, Ch0colate Cafe, Gorvett and Stone, Maison Blanc, Visitors Centre, and Purestretch Henley Club).
