There was lots of ‘hippy hippy shake’ at the Mayor’s 60th Birthday Party at the Town Hall on Friday night. The evening started with some great jazz music from John Pomfret and his jazz band but after a short interval ‘The Razzles’ a tribute Beatles band made up of Paul Hunter, David Boyt, Simon Amphlett and Dan Caney (lead singer and ex Gillotts pupil) got the guests moving and shaking to classic Beatles hits.
The Mayor, Stefan Gawrysiak invited guests to celebrate his 60th birthday and to thank them for a fantastic Mayoral year. Guests included friends, Councillors, representatives from the Mayor’s chosen charities, Gillotts’ Headteacher Catharine Darnton, Gillotts pupils and teachers and many members of Henley community groups.
The event also raised money for the Mayor’s charities through a raffle which local businesses had donated prizes for including the Giggling Squid, Henley Brewhouse, Red Lion Hotel and Hobbs of Henley. Allen Levy from Henley Tennis Club was delighted to win the cuddly teddy (pictured above)!
The Razzles gave their time for free and will be playing at the Music on the Meadows on Sunday 20 July.
