Paula Shaves Her Hair Off for Cancer Charity

Paula Isaac on Sunday raised over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK by having her hair shaved off in front of her family and friends at The Saracen’s Head pub on Greys Road.  Paula’s Auntie, Elaine, died of breast cancer in 2008 and every year since Paula has raised money for Cancer Research UK by taking part in their Race for Life.

This year she decided she wanted to do something bigger with more of a extreme personal challenge.  She enlisted the help of a school Mum friend, Fozia Shafi who carefully shaved Paula’s hair off.  The hair was kept and Paula is hoping to give it to a charity so that it can be used to made into a wig.

Paula said afterwards, “I was really nervous beforehand but it feels lovely and cool now without my long hair.  I wanted to do this for a close friend too who has recently been told she has terminal cancer.”
