Gillotts Student Enjoy Trip to Germany

mosel-valley-germanyIn July, 32 Year 8 Gillotts students headed off to the beautiful Mosel Valley in Germany. They stayed in a youth hostel up in the vineyards in Traben- Trarbach. The hostel was full of German school children enjoying their class trips. There were lots of opportunities to mix playing football and table tennis.

The students visited the beautiful towns of Bernkastel-Kues and Trier and the weather was beautiful so they saw the area at its best.   The picture above shows the group enjoying ice-cream at an ‘Eiscafé’ in the centre of Traben Trarbach. The following evening the group went to play on the newly renovated championship Mini-golf course. The swim on the final day in the Moselbad Cochem was also very welcome after the long walk up to the castle at Cochem.

Mrs Davidson the German teacher said “The students produced lots of excellent work and I was delighted with their workbooks and scores in their vocabulary tests. They were complemented wherever we went on their behaviour. The guide at Cochem Castle was particularly impressed with their desire to learn German.”

She added, “Many thanks must also go to my colleagues Mr West and Miss Stoffels. They are one of the main reasons why the trip was so successful. For many, this was a first chance to experience Germany and I hope many will feel motivated enough to come with on the exchange with our partner school in Leichlingen in Year 9.”
