Tickets on Sale Today for Biggest Literary Festival

NicholasParsonsTickets are now on sale for the biggest Henley Literary Festival yet – featuring 150 talks, interviews and performances across seven venues in the town.

The latest additions to the programme include Nicholas Parsons, Dawn O’Porter, John Whaite, Kirsty Wark and Maureen Lipman.

The festival, sponsored by Laithwaite’s Wine, takes place from September 29th to October 5th. As well as returning venues the Kenton Theatre, Christ Church, the Town Hall, the River & Rowing Museum and the Hibernia, the Old Fire Station Gallery will host a photography exhibition and related event. Marketplace will host the Baillie Gifford Festival KirstyWarkHub for the first time, a marquee over the weekend hosting free children’s events, a box office and stalls from the Bell Bookshop and Laithwaite’s.

DJ Mike Read – one of several Henley-based authors at this year’s festival will talk about his upcoming autobiography Seize the Day on Saturday October 4th. Other local authors include Nick Townsend, Amanda Jennings, Margot Harris and Cesca Major.

Other late additions to the programme include MP Liam Fox, interior designer Nicky Haslam, columnists Peter Oborne and Simon Heffer, as well as actress Eleanor Bron, in a staged reading of her new play. Previously announced authors include Emma Bridgewater, Princess Michael of Kent, Adele Parks and Earl Spencer. Returning favourites include the River Readings, this year with a World War One poetry theme, Crime & Wine and Dazzling Debuts.
