Henley Lions organised their annual Swimathon on Saturday at LA Fitness.  Over 150 swimmers took part, representating teams from Shiplake, Valley Road, St Mary’s and Trinity schools and a team from Mencap.

The teams had 35 mins to swim as many lengths in a relay and a few teams did over 100. Half the money will go to the Henley Lions’ children’s charities and half will be retained by the teams.  Sue Fitzsimmons, a teacher at Trinity School said, “We will use our money to purchase some new outdoor benches as the others are very old and giving splinters!”  Lucy Herbert teacher at Valley Road School said “We will be putting our money towards some new playground and sports equipment plus adding to our Music Room fund.”

Mel Williams, President of the Lions said, “We’re really pleased to raise nearly £4,000 and would like to thank LA Fitness again this year for providing their excellent facilities free of charge.”
