Spins, balances and acrobatics were all part of the annual Gillotts School Gym and Dance display this week. Over 150 students took part in this fantastic annual event which is a highlight in the school’s calendar for both students and families of the school. The students have been learning the routines since September in school classes and clubs. Each year it seems that the school reaches new heights with the standard of gym and dance on display.
Dances in the first half included a beautiful solo by Sarah White from Year 10 who is doing GCSE Dance, Grease by Years 7 and 8 and Thriller by Year 8. After the interval the gym displays showed off brilliant acrobatic and balancing skills with many of the balance formations being three or more students high. The gifted and talent gymnastics featuring Hannah Bradbury, Amelia Scott, Megan Powell, Maya Lawton, Olivia James, Regan Huntley and Abi and Alice France put on a fantastic display.
The event was also raising money for charity with the proceeds from the programmes going to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
Hayley Rogers, Head of PE at Gillotts said, “I’d like to thank all the PE department for all their hard work and support to put this evening together and in particular to Sophie Cronin who has either choreographed or supported students in choreographing the dance performances. It’s been another terrific event and I’m very proud of all the students.”
