First Project for Henley in Bloom ‘Sprouts’ Gardening Club
Youngsters in Henley can now help with the Henley in Bloom campaign by joining the Sprouts Gardening Club. On Saturday the club did their first gardening project which was to dig over and weed a round flower bed in the Henley YMCA garden in Noble Road and plant some bulbs.
The flower bed which has a flowering cherry tree in the middle was completely overgrown and the children enjoyed digging out the weeds, finding unusual stones before planting Freesia and Iris bulbs. The club is open to children aged 3-8 years and if you’d like to join please email Councillor Kellie Hinton who is running the club at kellie.hinton@outlook.com
Kellie said, “It’s a great way for the children to get involved and we’re looking for more members. Our next project will be to plant out some new flower beds which are being created by the Parks Staff at the Putting Green at Mill Meadows.”
