GB Rowers took time out of their training this week to officially open the new astro turf at Trinity School.  Jamie Kirkland, Kat Copland, Olivia Carnegie-Brown, Lucinda Gooderham, Vicky Meyer-Lake and Ellie Piggott all the cut the ribbon to the delight of the children.

Jo Lock, PE Teacher at the school, knows Ellie Piggott and she had previously invited her to the school to talk to the children after she won GB Gold at the European Championship as an Under 23. The school have been following Ellie’s career progress since and she’s now been selected to join the full GB rowing squad.  Jo said, “Ellie said that she’d love to return and she organised her other team mates to join her.”

Headteacher, Helen Jones said, “These things don’t just happen overnight, we are very lucky to have a fabulous environment with this great new facility. I’d to say a huge thanks to the Friends of Trinity, the Governors, in particular Paul Haines, Jo Lock and STM the company who supplied the astro turf.”

Most of the money (£40K) was raised by the Friends of Trinity through fundraising initiatives and events.
